According to a new health report published in www.guardian.co.uk, a number of years can be added to a person’s age if he has a supportive social network. This fact has been brought out by a research that has been conducted over a span of 20 years. The research shows that people who are lonely and isolated are twice as likely to die as compared to the people who have an active social life. It has now been proved that isolation is as bad for health as smoking and drinking. The study was conducted on more than 300,000 healthy subjects. The researchers say that someone may live alone but may still have an active social network. This is why simply living alone is not a measurement for the research. The number of friends, social activities and employment details were also taken into account to do the research.
